For outdoor areas, asphalt or concrete with a non-slip coating is ideal. An acrylic coating is often applied over the concrete or asphalt. Indoors, sports flooring such as wood, rubber, or special vinyl coverings can be used.

The line markings include the service zone, the non-volley zone (kitchen), the sidelines, and the baselines. Light colors should be used for the markings to make the lines clearly visible; ideally, white.

The net should be made of a dense, ball-proof material. The recommended length is at least 6.6 m, stretching from post to post. Ideally, the posts should be 6.70 m apart and have a maximum diameter of 8 cm. The net height should be 91 cm at the sides and 86 cm in the middle. A reinforced cable, covered with a 5 cm wide band, should be fitted at the top for stability and durability.

Depending on the available space and budget, courts can be individually designed. Multifunctional courts for other sports, such as tennis or badminton, can also be used for pickleball.
