On March 17, 2026, Pickleball Vienna celebrated its seventh anniversary. What began as a small initiative has grown into an open, vibrant community in the heart of Vienna, for people of all ages, nationalities, and skill levels.
The celebration took place at the club’s original location, where Austria’s first public pickleball matches were also held in 2019. Members and guests gathered to celebrate both the anniversary and St. Patrick’s Day...playing games late into the night on their own court at the former Club Danube Ottakring.
Since its founding, the club has played a key role in establishing pickleball in Vienna and sparking enthusiasm for the sport. Week after week, energy, laughter, and the characteristic clacking of rackets and balls fill the courts, an activity that is both athletic and social.
As the first open-play organization of its kind in Austria, the journey was not without challenges. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, play was suspended, but the community remained connected and kept the passion alive.
After resuming, we moved forward stronger than ever: new players, familiar faces, and a new chapter...with the move to Tennis Point Vienna in July 2022, the founding of the club in 2023, and a new leadership team in 2024.
Today, Pickleball Vienna stands for dedication, openness, and camaraderie. Whether you’re an ambitious player or a beginner, there’s a place for everyone here. With open play sessions, workshops, events, the popular “Not A Tournament” formats, and weekend trips, there’s something for everyone.
After seven years, we look ahead with confidence: the future of pickleball in Vienna is promising.
Seven years and we’re just getting started. Time to get out and play!
